Remember The Trackless
A documentary specially compiled to commemorate the 40th. anniversary of the closure of the much loved trolleybuses of Mexborough, Swinton & Rotherham in the late '20s, '50s & '60s. This is a magnificent collection of film, much in colour, recapturing the memories of the single deckers in action along the length of the interurban.
We follow the one-way wiring in Rotherham town centre & through all the industry near Don Bridge, snake through the old Rawmarsh, speed along Warren Vale, experience the exhilarating "up and under" at the canal & railway bridges at Swinton, power through the narrow streets of Mexborough, pause at Old Toll Bar depot; watch the trains at Deaby level crossing; tackle the hills near Conisbrough Castle; squeeze around the loop at Brooke Square. In Rotherham we see great central area scenes; rare glimpses at Maltby and Brecks; excellent coverage at Kimberworth to Thrybergh plus the sylvian road to Silverwood Colliery.
Special Features: Brilliant 70 year old footage of Craven bodied Guys; Garrett 0's and even a Garrett OS. Some glimpses of Rotherham trams. All types of post-war trackless. Last day of Mexborough & Swinton complete with Rawmarsh Prize Band. "Rotherhams" in Spain and "Mexboroughs" in Bradford..
Rich in period cars, buses, lorries and street scenes, also long gone buildings and industries
