1953 – admire the Coronation decorations before riding the impressive 12-mile Garston circle (route8/33) with views on Princes Road – Garston, Allerton, Mather Avenue (a real speed track) and Penny Lane
1954 – hop on the busy 29’s out to Muirhead Avenue via Tuebrook. Even Glimpse a rare 47. Look out for Green Goddesses exiled in Glasgow. Join 766 on tour. Visit the infamous Green Lane depot.
1955 – nip first into Roe Street; then in March take a 10b along Prescot Road with action at Old Swan and Knotty Ash. Mark the demise of the English Electric bogies, the Robinson Cabin cars and the Marks Bogies. Shiver in the snow on Townsend Lane. In November follow the contortions of the Everton one-way system; the interlaced and single track section on narrow Breck Road; then the arrow-straight grass tracks in Norris Green, (routes 13/14)
1956 – suffer the abandonment of the routes to Kirkby and Southdene (19/44) with their miles of superb reserved track running into the country. Ride for the final time down Everton Valley; along Scotland Road; and up Dale Street. Soak up some great night photography before bidding adieu to the 31 bogie streamliners. Recall the suez crisis and the battle to save the Overhead. Ride this unique elevated railway.
1957 – board Baby Grands for journeys to Bowring Park (6A) and Pagemoss (40) – with great scenes of the trams in the main central streets LAST DAY ACTION IN COLOUR.
