HORNBY R2947X 00 SCALE Class 423 VEP 4 car EMU in NSE livery - DCC Fitted
The 4VEP is an excellent choice by Hornby for a Southern region electric unit, joining the Bachmann 4CEP units released during 2009. The 4VEP featured a mix of high-capacity suburban style seating with doors to each bay and more comfortable compartments for first class passengers. Ideal for the longer-distance outer suburban journeys.
This model is painted in the Network South East livery of the early 1990s
After refurbishment during the years 1988 - 1990 which included the fitting of fluorescent lights and a public address system amongst other changes the units were reclassified as Class 423/1. The Hornby example is representative of the relevant unit after the changes and carries the pre-privatisation livery of Network Southeast.
